Ahead of team India's matches in the Super 8s of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Virat Kohli was left frustrated by an unknown bowler during net sessions.

Virat Kohli, who is playing in a new position in this T20 World Cup, did not experience the best of Group stages with the bat. In all of the 3 matches that India played in Group A against Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA, Kohli could not do justice to his reputation of being a run machine. He has scored just 5 runs from those 3 outings as an opening batter alongside skipper Rohit Sharma.

If the Indian team are to reach the final of the T20 World Cup in Barbados, then Virat Kohli will have to hit his peak form. He must replicate the form he displayed in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Kohli went through his second-best run-scoring season in the IPL after the 2016 edition wherein he had amassed over 900 runs.

This season for the RCB, Virat Kohli scored 741 runs from 15 matches and he also gave the strongest push to the franchise for a top 4 finish. After losing 6 out of their first 7 matches, Kohli inspired Bengaluru to win all of their last 7 fixtures. Their qualification for the playoffs was confirmed after they defeated the Chennai Super Kings in the last league match of the season.

The most impressive part about Virat Kohli's IPL 2024 season was his strike rate. After being heavily criticized for it, Kohli smashed over 700 runs at a striking rate of over 150. His form was very good news for the Indian team's T20 World Cup aspirations but the batter hasn't been able to showcase his prowess as of yet.

Signs of concern for Virat Kohli before the Super 8s

The latest report, which emerged on Wednesday morning, spoke about the signs of concern for Virat Kohli ahead of the Super 8s of the ICC T20 WC 2024. The report claimed that during a net session yesterday, Kohli was struggling against an unnamed bowler in the nets.

During yesterday's session, Virat Kohli first had a throwdown session before moving to the other net and facing Kuldeep Yadav and Khaleel Ahmed. After that, Kohli faced the reserve bowler and it could be right-arm pacer Avesh Khan, who had infamously slammed his helmet into the ground after beating Kohli's RCB in IPL 2022.

India to begin Super 8s against Afghanistan

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will have a chance to get back in form tomorrow when the Indian team takes on Afghanistan in the first Super 8 match. The 35-year-old had scored a comeback century against the same opponents back in 2022 during the Asia Cup T20 in UAE.

That 122* knock is the first century in the shortest format that Virat Kohli had scored in his career and he will have a chance to replicate that tomorrow. After Afghanistan, the Men in Blue will lock horns against Bangladesh (22 June) and Australia (24 June).
