England Cricket Team is on a roll at the moment after winning the 1st Test Match against Pakistan. On a dead pitch, the bowlers bowled their hearts out as they were quite disciplined in their line and length. Pakistan now has slipped to 5th position with a percentile of 46.67 whereas India is in 4th position with a percentile of 52.08.
Skipper Ben Stokes was spot on with his captaincy as his shrewd field placings made runs hard to come by. The tactics of the short ball proved to be decisive. Stokes’ made a statement to the World Cricket that they are a force to reckon with in overseas conditions too.

David Llyod On India
David Llyod wrote in his column ‘Daily Mail’ about the Indian Cricket Team. “It is not totally new, of course. The Australia team of the 90s were very positive and the great West Indian sides were full of exhilarating stroke-makers. I reckon a team capable of this style now is India. They have all the tools. There has been a suspicion that Indian batters are stats driven but Virat Kohli is one who could drive this.” said David Llyod.

“Test cricket has to keep moving in this positive direction to keep pace with the white-ball game. That’s what England are doing in the most exciting way imaginable. What a statement Stokes has made in saying ‘I’m not interested in draws. And this win shows he means it. Even on a pitch like that! The fascinating thing now is how quickly other teams follow suit?” he added.
Great Win For England
Under the duo of Brendon McCullum & Ben Stokes, Test Cricket has looked quite different and more entertaining. It was assumed that England may change their batting approach as scoring in Pakistan is not that easy. England would be well aware of the fact that Pakistan would come out well prepared for the 2nd Test Match as we can expect a riveting contest.
There are chances that James Anderson may be rested as a part of workload management. The pacer took a 4 wicket haul in the 2nd innings and was quite immaculate in his approach. It would be interesting to see whether Ben Foakes returns as he was sidelined due to an illness.
