Sri Lanka and Pakistan are set to clash with each other in a Test series. According to reports, Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne is doubtful to play the SL vs PAK 1st Test. The left-handed batter sustained a hamstring injury ahead of the series. Dimuth Karunaratne will undergo fitness tests during the next two days.
Sri Lanka and Pakistan are set to clash in a two-match Test series in Sri Lanka. The SL vs PAK 1st Test begins on July 16. The venue of the match is Galle International Stadium in Galle. Pakistan’s tour of Sri Lanka 2023 comprises only a Test series.

Dimuth Karunaratne Doubtful For SL vs PAK 1st Test: Reports
According to a report by Sri Lanka Daily Mirror, Dimuth Karunaratne is doubtful for the opening game due to a hamstring injury. A source close to Sri Lanka Cricket informed the newspaper that Dimuth Karunaratne will undergo a fitness Test for the next two days in Colombo.

If he is fit enough to play, then only he will travel to Galle for the Test match. The source also said that if Dimuth Karunaratne is unable to feature in the match, vice-captain Dhananjaya de Silva will lead the team against Sri Lanka.
“In the event of Dimuth’s unavailability, the team will be led by the 31-year-old all-rounder, Dhananjaya de Silva, who is already the vice-captain,” he said.
The source also informed that Sri Lanka Cricket Board has only finalized the squad for the 1st Test. The board will select the team for the second Test after the start of 1st Test.
“They have selected the squad for the first Test only. The team for the second Test (to be played in Colombo (July 24-28) will be finalized on the third day of the first Test,” the source further said.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan squad is all set to face Sri Lanka in the Test series under skipper Babar Azam. Recently, Pakistan played a two-day practice Test match with the Sri Lanka Cricket Presidents XI team.
The SL vs PAK 1st Test will be played from July 16 to 20. Later, the 2nd Test will be played at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. The 2nd Test begins on July 24.

Sri Lanka recently took part in ICC World Cup 2023 Qualifiers, where they won the final to qualify for ICC World Cup 2023. Pakistan last played an ODI and T20I home series against New Zealand in April-May 2023. Pakistan won the ODI series 4-1. The T20I series ended in a 2-2 tie.
