Sri Lanka’s Spinners Are Better: Sanjay Bangar
While speaking on Star Sports about the PAK vs SL match, former India batter Sanjay Bangar said that Sri Lanka have an advantage over Pakistan as they have better spinners in their team. He also reckoned that Pakistan’s bowling has been affected by the absence of Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah.
“Pakistan’s bowling has definitely weakened slightly because there is no clarity on whether Haris Rauf will play or not and Naseem Shah also has an injured shoulder. If they are not fit, I feel it will be an even contest.
If you go to the spin department, Sri Lanka’s spinners are better. A lot of matches have already been played on this square, so the team that has the better spinners will definitely have the advantage and Sri Lanka definitely have the advantage ahead of this match,” said Sanjay Bangar.
Spinners Maheesh Theekshana, Dunith Wellalage, and Charith Asalanka have done a wonderful job for Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023. Dunith Wellalage and Charith Asalanka picked 5 and 4 wickets against India respectively.
On the other hand, Shadab Khan has picked 5 wickets in 4 matches for Pakistan. Mohammad Nawaz and Usama Mir are the other two spinners for Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023. However, they have been unsuccessful.
Sri Lanka’s Batting Is Better: Sanjay Bangar
Sanjay Bangar also feels that Sri Lanka have better batting than Pakistan because their batters know how to play on spin-friendly wicket.
“I feel Sri Lanka’s batting is better because their players know how to play on turning tracks. Kuldeep Yadav dismissed five Pakistan batters in their match against India. So spin will definitely be in their mind,” the cricket commentator added.
Meanwhile, both Sri Lanka and Pakistan lost to India in their previous encounters in Asia Cup 2023. Sri Lanka lost to India by 41 runs while Pakistan lost by 228 runs. Before Asia Cup 2023 final, India will face Bangladesh in a dead-rubber match on Friday, September 15.
