PAK vs SL: Watch - Dunith Wellalage Gets Babar Azam Stumped With A Jaffa In Colombo

Sri Lanka are turning the heat on in the virtual semi-final of Asia Cup 2023 against Pakistan at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. It has been that man Dunith Wellalage who has stepped up once again for his team in the crunch situation. 

After his staggering performance against India, young Dunith Wellalage made sure that he backed it up with another staggering effort. Although it’s early days in the ongoing game, he has made a great impact and has removed Pakistan skipper and No.1 ODI batter Babar Azam with a cracking delivery. 

Pakistan lost Fakhar Zaman early and after that Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique got their eye set on it. They added a fifty-plus partnership and were slowly taking the game away from Sri Lanka. However, Dunith Wellalage made sure that he brought his side back into the game. 

Dunith Wellalage bowled a perfect delivery for a spinner that outfoxed Babar Azam. He bowled a full delivery that drifted in from wide of the crease. The Pakistan captain played for the angle and was drawn forward to push the ball. 

Babar Azam was undone by the away spin from Dunith Wellalage as he missed the ball. Keeper Kusal Mendis whipped off the bails in a flash and the batter’s back leg was in the air when the bails were dislodged. The keeper also exhibited great skills to send the Pakistan skipper packing.

Babar Azam looked quite solid on the crease but unfortunately got out at a crucial juncture for his team. The captain scored 29 runs off 35 balls. He also scored three boundaries in his innings, bringing his team back into the game after an early blow.

Dinesh Karthik lauded Dunith Wellalage for his staggering ball to remove Babar Azam in the ongoing cricket. He added that it was a delivery for ages and Sri Lanka have unearthed a new star. Taking to his X account, he explained:
