"Rahul Dravid, more than anyone of us, deserved the World Cup trophy. What he has done for Indian cricket for the past 20-25 years... I think this was the only thing that was left in his cabinet. Very happy from all of us, on behalf of the entire team, that we could do this for him. You saw how proud he was and how excited he was," Rohit said during the post-match press conference.

The India head coach could not hold back his emotions as he celebrated and held the cup with all the Indian players on the podium. He was ecstatic and his emotions poured out as he held the T20 World Cup in his hands.

Rahul Dravid speaking after India's T20 World Cup win said that this win was a result of planning and hard work for the last two years. India lost the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final under Rahul Dravid against England. From then on there was a lot of hard work put behind the scenes said Dravid.

"This is a journey of two years. I think about the construction of the team, the players we wanted and the balance we wanted. The discussions started when we started in September 2022. It culminated in the World Cup but honestly the disappointment of Australia (in the 2022 World Cup where they reached semifinals) and World Cup final loss (in India last year) also contributed. This feels like a two-year journey, not one month. It all came together here on a beautiful afternoon here in Barbados" said Dravid.

The 2024 T20 World Cup final marked the final match for Rahul Dravid as the Indian head coach. His tenure came to an end after the ICC event and he earlier requested the BCCI to not give him an extension.
