Indian Cricket Team’s dashing wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant suffered a heart-wrenching accident on 30th December. The left-handed batter was rescued by a Bus Driver when Pant was heading back to his hometown Roorkee in his Mercedes SUV.

Rishabh Pant has been an inseparable part of Men in Blue for the last couple of years. The wicket-keeper batter has been a part of the historic triumphs against Australia in 2018-19 & 2020-21 where his attacking brand of cricket has been quite fruitful. The batter has made a name for himself in a short span of time.

Rishabh Pant Sidelined for Majority of 2023

The wicket-keeper batter has torn 3 key ligaments in his knee, out of which 2 have been reconstructed while surgery is due to take place after 6 weeks. It is assumed that Pant would be out of action for at least 6 months. The BCCI may have to think of finding his replacement as hurrying up him for the World Cup 2023 won’t be a feasible option.

Huge Blow for Indian Cricket Team

Finding a player of Rishabh Pant’s caliber is quite difficult as the left-handed batter not only plays an attacking brand of cricket but has the knack of playing the waiting game which is priceless in tricky scenarios. We should not forget that how Rishabh Pant thumped England in the 3rd ODI against all odds by smashing a century.

Rishabh Pant would be missed in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 as he has a pretty decent record against them. The team doesn’t have the luxury of a left-handed batter in the lineup. It would be interesting to see how his replacements Ishan Kishan & KS Bharat fare in the Australia Tests.
