'Riyan Parag Is A Quota Player': Indian Fans Slam All-Rounder After His Flop Show With Bat vs Pakistan A In Emerging Asia Cup 2023

Riyan Parag is once again hogging the limelight for all the wrong reasons as the youngster failed to make an impression with the bat in the recently-concluded ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023.

The right-handed batsman endured a disastrous outing in IPL 2023. A lot was expected from Riyan after he impressed one and all with his impressive power-hitting in the previous seasons of the IPL. He, however, failed miserably with the bat as he contributed almost nothing for Rajasthan Royals in this year’s IPL.

In seven games, the Assam star could manage only 78 runs at an average of 13 and a strike rate of 118. Following his poor outing in IPL 2023, not many had expected him to find a place in the India A squad for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. However, the selectors showed faith in the youngster and gave him a big opportunity to make things right in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023.

Riyan Parag flops with the bat:

Riyan Parag could not grab the opportunity with the bat in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. He got the chance to bat in only two matches and flopped in both of them. Riyan first batted in the competition during the semifinal clash against Bangladesh and was out for just 12 as India could only manage 211 although they went on to win the game.

The highly-rated batsman had a chance to impress with the bat in the final too against arch-rivals Pakistan but failed. He could score only 14 before departing. And as Riyan’s poor show with the bat continued, the fans took to Twitter to slam him.
