The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has decided to honor the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar with a life-size statue at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on the occasion of Tendulkar’s 50th birthday on April 24, 2023. Sachin Tendulkar is the only cricketer to be awarded the Bharat Ratna for his contributions to Indian cricket over three decades.
The MCA will unveil a statue of Sachin Tendulkar when he celebrates his 50th birthday on April 24. The statue will be located at the Wankhede Stadium, the venue where Tendulkar became a World Cup winner in 2011 and played his final international game, which was his 200th Test. Tendulkar represented India in 664 international matches and scored 34357 runs.

He’s The Pride Of The Cricketing Fraternity – Amol Kale
According to the Times of India, MCA president Amol Kale said the entire cricket fraternity will be present at the statue unveiling, which is expected to be during the ODI World Cup in India later this year.
“Every Mumbaikar, rather the world knows about Sachin’s contribution to cricket. He’s the pride of the cricketing fraternity and a Bharat Ratna as well. As a small token of appreciation of his work, and as a special gift on his 50th birthday, the MCA will put up a life-size statue in the premises of the Wankhede Stadium, something similar to the statue of Shane Warne at the MCG,” Kale told TOI.
“We approached him a couple of weeks back (with this idea), and a couple of days back, we gave his consent. So now, we’ll decide where to put up the statue soon. At the same time, we’ll decide when to unveil it. We are planning to do it during the ODI World Cup, so that the entire cricketing fraternity is present during its unveiling,” he added.
The MCA named a stand in the Wankhede Stadium with the name “Sachin Tendulkar.” There are only three life-size statues of cricket players in India’s stadiums, with the Holkar Stadium in Indore and the VCA and Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Andhra Pradesh each having a statue of former Indian captain CK Nayudu.
