Shane Warne Reveals The List Of His Top-Five Modern Day Test Batters

Legendary Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne has revealed the list of his top-five Test batters present in world cricket currently.

Among the five names that made it to Warne’s list two were Australians, One was from New Zealand, One was from England and One was Indian batter.

Meanwhile, the No.1 Test batter according to Shane Warne is his fellow countryman Steve Smith who is regarded as one of the greatest Australian batsmen in the purest format of the game.

He is the fastest batter to complete 7000 Test runs, and he has been equally effective in any condition in the world, so far he has managed to score 7552 Test runs in 78 games at an average of 61.4.

“I have got Steve Smith (at the top). I think, overall conditions, against all bowlers, he has been brilliant,” Warne said in a video posted by Fox Cricket.

The year 2021 has been the year of England captain Joe Root, he has 1544 runs in his bag at an average of 64.33. He has scored two half-centuries and six centuries including two double centuries at Galle and Chennai.

Root had a brilliant start in Tests in 2021 and in the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka he scored 426 runs, then he scored 386 runs in the 4-match Test series against India. After that, he smashed 97 runs in the two-match Test series against New Zealand and then smashed 564 runs in the home Test series against India.

The next on Shane Warne’s list were New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson and Indian captain Virat Kohli. Both Kohli and Williamson are regarded as two of the best captains in the longest format of the game and have played crucial knocks for the team. Meanwhile, Shane Warne also said that “Virat Kohli has dropped down in recent times” but he has done enough to make it to the list.

The last name in Shane Warne’, list was Australian Marnus Labuschagne who has played just 19 Tests for Australia and has smashed 1959 runs at an average of 61.2 including 5 hundred and 11 fifties.
