Shane Warne Was On Extreme Diet Before His Death Due To Heart Attack: Reports

The sudden demise of legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne has taken the cricket fraternity by surprise. Warne was ageing 52 on his death bed. He passed away due to a fatal heart attack on Friday, March 4 in Koh Samui, Thailand.

Several former cricketers who were also close friends with Shane Warne has been giving him tributes after his death. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Kevin Pietersen, Michael Vaughan amongst others have been completely shocked and rattled by his sudden death. Meanwhile, as per reports in NZ Herald, peaking with Australian TV show Nine’s Today, Warne’s long-time manager James Erskine said Warne had finished a fluid-only diet for two weeks.

“He did go on these ridiculous sort of diets … and was just finished one, where he basically only ate fluids for 14 days, and he’d done this three or four times. He was a bit all or nothing, it was either white buns with butter and lasagne stuffed in the middle, or he’d be basically having these black or green juices,” Erskine said.

The Thai police who were investigating Warne’s death said that the legendary spinner complained of chest pain before leaving Australia for a holiday in Thailand. Shane Warne’s family is demanding the return of his body to them while it has been sent to the Suratthani Hospital for an autopsy.

Police Colonel Yuthana Sirisombat told reporters on Saturday night that his family had informed them about Warne’s history of heart problems and asthma and their concern about his health before he left Australia last week. Sirisombat further said that Warne had recently visited the doctor about his heart problems.

“A large amount of blood was found in the room. When CPR was started, the deceased had coughed up liquid and was bleeding” Pol Maj Gen Satit Polpinit, commander of Surat Thani Provincial Police, told Thai newspaper Matichon.
