Shubman Gill officially secures his spot in India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad

According to the latest report, the India National Cricket Team Test captain, Shubman Gill, has 100% secured his place in the squad for the Asia Cup 2025.
A Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) source said that Gill is officially locked in for the Asia Cup 2025 squad and there are no doubts over his selection.

The 25-year-old hit the peak of his international career in the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 in England.
Gill showed why he is regarded as one of the best batters in world cricket currently and established his name in the history books with his performances in the five-match Test series against England.
Shubman Gill is labelled by many as a future superstar of the game, and he possesses the ability to dominate with the bat in T20Is, ODIs, and Tests.
After replacing Rohit Sharma as Test skipper, Gill helped India to draw the five-match Test series against England and finished as the leading run-getter in the series. He scored 754 runs for India in 10 innings at a highly impressive average of 75.40.
Shubman Gill is a certainty for the Asia Cup 2025
Gill has impressed everyone with his batting brilliance in England and is more than ready to replicate the success in T20I cricket. Since the last few days, speculations have been rife regarding his selection in the Asia Cup 2025 squad as a vice-captain.
It was reported by various media outlets that Gill is being looked at as a vice-captain by selectors, and he would be opening the innings for the side.
Later, some reports claimed that Gill might not find it easy to get a place in what is looked at as a “set T20I team” because Gautam Gambhir believes in continuity.
Meanwhile, the latest report from journalist Vaibhav Bhola suggests that there are no doubts over Gill's selection and he will 100% make it to the Asia Cup 2025 squad. He also stated that a BCCI source told him that Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal will have to wait for their chances.

If you want to make a destructive team, can Shubman Gill become a part of that DNA? - Aakash Chopra
India have a set opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson in T20Is, and that pair needs to be broken if Gill has to be slotted in the playing XI.
Speaking on his official YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra talked about the selection dilemma for the Asia Cup 2025. He said that there are doubts over Gill's ability to fit into a destructive batting template of the Indian T20I team.
However, Aakash Chopra feels that is not the case with Yashasvi Jaiswal because he is a naturally aggressive batter and will easily fit in the Indian T20I side.
"What goes against Shubman? If you want to make a destructive team, can Shubman Gill become a part of that DNA? That is the big question. Yashasvi Jaiswal can definitely become a part of that DNA, but are they thinking about Yashasvi?" Chopra said.
