Former Australia women’s team skipper Lisa Sthalekar feels that BCCI has been irresponsible enough not to check on their player, Veda Krishnamurthy. Veda Krishnamurthy suffered a couple of tragedies as her mother and sister succumbed to the COVID-19 virus. Lisa Sthalekar underlined that as a contracted player, BCCI hardly checked on how she is coping.

Veda Krishnamurthy’s sister passed away only a few days after her mother did, as she announced on her official Twitter handle. Moreover, the 28-year old did not get the nod for India’s upcoming tour of England, where the tourists will lock horns in three ODIs, three T20Is, and a one-off Test. Krishnamurthy last represented the national team in the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup in March 2020.

Lisa Sthalekar took to her official Twitter handle and said that as a contracted player, BCCI ought to check on Veda Krishnamurthy as to how she is coping with the loss of her family members. The 41-year old understands the non-selection for the England tour, but has been angered by the BCCI’s attitude in this regard. The veteran conceded that a true association should care about the players who play the sport and not only on the game at any cost. Sthalekar recollected getting all the required services from the Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) as a past player. The Pune-born former cricketer understands the grief and the mental toll on all the individuals that is also bound to affect their game.
