Sony Pictures finalize 7-year-deal with New Zealand Cricket to broadcast matches in India

Sony Pictures Network has signed a seven-year deal with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) to broadcast their games in India. Hence, Sony Pictures Network will present the live telecast and live streaming of all international games in New Zealand.

The deal begins on May 1, 2024, and will conclude on April 30, 2031. Amazon Prime had the broadcast rights for telecasting New Zealand in India. However, their deal ends this year in the summer.

SonyLiv to live stream New Zealand games in India

With the new deal, Sony Sports channels will telecast all of the international matches in New Zealand. Also, the live streaming of the games will be available on SonyLiv app. Amazon Prime will share digital streaming rights with Sony Pictures for 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons.

After the deal, NZC Chief Executive Scott Weenink shared his happiness in an official statement.

“Sony Pictures Networks India is an aspirational, innovative, and forward-focussed business that prides itself on being efficient and sustainable in a rapidly changing world. It puts its consumers first and seeks to be the very best it can be – values NZC relates to very strongly,” he said.

Looking forward to showcasing some terrific cricket: SPN Official

Sony Pictures Network India Revenue Officer Rajesh Kaul said they look forward to telecast terrific cricket in India after the deal.

“We’re looking forward to showcasing some terrific cricket through our seven-year partnership, including three crucial bilateral series against England, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, in 2024-25, as well two bilateral series featuring the Indian men’s team in 2026-27 and 2030-31, respectively,” he said.

“Our constant endeavor has been to add marquee properties to our sports portfolio, making us a global multi-sporting arena for audiences in India,” he added.

Team India will tour New Zealand in 2026-27 and 2030-31 seasons. Hence, the live telecast and live streaming of these tours will be available on Sony Pictures Network in India.

NZ to face Pakistan in T20I series

Meanwhile, New Zealand is set to tour Pakistan for a five-match T20I series next month. The PAK vs NZ T20I series will witness five games from April 18 to April 27. Earlier in January, the Blackcaps faced Pakistan in a T20I series at home. They won the series with a huge 4-1 margin.

Later in June, New Zealand will participate in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the US. NZ is part of Group C in the tournament with teams like West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea part of their pool.
