Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets in IPL 2025
Mumbai Indians won their fourth consecutive game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets. Asked to bat, the hosts had a disastrous start to their innings as the opposition pacers were all over them.
The likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Nitish Kumar Reddy failed badly. The Sunrisers Hyderabad were reeling at 35 for five, and it was then that Heinrich Klaasen (71) counter-attacked the opposition and brought his team back in the game.
Impact-Sub Abhinav Manohar (43) supported him well as the duo added 99 runs for the sixth wicket. Thanks to their effort, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a total of 143 for eight. For the Mumbai Indians, Trent Boult picked out wickets.
Chasing the target, Mumbai Indians lost Ryan Rickelton (11) to a brilliant reflex catch by Jayden Unadkat. However, after that, Rohit Sharma (70) continued his form and slammed a brilliant half-century.
He batted till the 15th over to take the game away from the opposition. Will Jacks (22) and Suryakumar Yadav (40*) also played decent hands as Mumbai Indians chased the target with seven wickets in hand to move to third on the points table.
Here's how the Sunrisers Hyderabad can qualify for IPL 2025 playoffs
With the loss against the Mumbai Indians, SRH registered their 6th loss of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. They are now at the 9th spot in the points table with just two wins under their belt and four points.
Their road to qualification will be very tough now as they now need to win six out of their remaining six games, which will take them to 16 points, which is a potential mark for qualification. This will take them to the playoffs without even depending on others.
However, if they win five out of their six games, they will still have a slight chance with 14 points to their name. But their qualification will then depend on the NRR as well as how other results pan out in the league.
However, more than two losses would mean curtains for them in the IPL. Mathematically, they will be in contention, but considering how other teams are playing, things will be tough.
