Sri Lanka Playing 11 vs Bangladesh- 2nd Test, Bangladesh Tour of Sri Lanka 2025:
Openers: Pathum Nisanka, Lahiru Udara
Sri Lanka will open the innings with a new opening pair of Pathum Nissanka and Lahiru Udara, both of whom opened the innings in the first match against Bangladesh in Galle.
Udara is yet to make a mark in Test cricket, having made his debut in the opening game of the series.
Udara will look at this match as an opportunity to make a mark after failing to do so in the first game.
Nissanka, on the other hand, continued his good run in the longest format of the game with a score of 187 runs in the first match of the two-match Test series.
This was Nissanka's highest score in Test cricket and his third century in this format, including a match-winning innings against England in their own backyard.
The batter will hope to build on the good start he has had in the series and get another big score under his belt in Colombo.
The pair will look to get the team off to a good start and would hope for the middle order to capitalize on the platform laid by them.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Dinesh Chandimal, Oshada Fernando, Dhananjaya de Silva (c), Kamindu Mendis, Kusal Mendis (wk), Milan Rathnayake
The opening pair will be followed by a middle order, which has a good blend of youth and expierence with the likes of Dinesh Chandimal, Oshada Fernando, who is expected to replace Mathews, Kamindu Mendis, and captain Dhananjaya de Silva.
The pair of Chandimal and Dhananjaya will look to stabilize the Sri Lankan innings and will be supported by Oshada Fernando and Kamindu Mendis.
Kusal Mendis in partnership with Milan Rathnayake will take care of the lower middle-order, who has had an impressive start to his Test career with bat and ball.
Sri Lanka will also have the services of Prabath Jayasuriya and Tharindu Ratnayake, both of whom are quite handy with the bat.
Bowlers: Prabath Jayasuriya, Tharindu Ratnayake, Asitha Fernando
Lanka would pin their hopes on their spinners to put on a much-improved performance with the ball, as compared to the kind of performance they delivered in the first game.
The onus will be on Parbath Jayasuriya and Tharindu Ratnayake. Rathnayake will be playing only their second match, having made his Test debut in the opening game of the series.
The fast bowling duo of Asitha Fernando and Ramesh Rtnayake would also hope to keep up the good work they did in the first encounter.
Lanka is expected to retain the combination of two fast bowlers and two spinners in the second match as well.
