Ireland seamer Curtis Campher did the unthinkable of picking four wickets in four balls against the Netherlands in the World Cup qualifiers — and he is hoping to produce lot more performances. Ireland put up a complete performance against the Netherlands after having them dismissed for just 106 in their first innings. Campher was the pick of the bowlers as he finished with four for 26 in his spell.

Ireland chased down the target in just 15.1 overs to win the game by 7 wickets, and Curtis Campher picked up the player of the match award for his brilliant double hat-trick. Not many bowlers in the world have been able to pick up four wickets in four balls, and Campher has now joined the elite list.

Curtis Campher Explains His Bowling Plans That Worked

Curtis Campher mentioned that he wasn’t thinking of achieving any feat and instead concentrated on the game plan against Ryan Ten Doeschate. He picked up the wickets of Colin Ackermann, Ryan Ten Doeschate, Scott Edwards, and Roelof Van Der Merve in consecutive deliveries on his debut game in the T20 World cup.

“To be honest, I wasn’t really thinking about it [emulating Malinga and Rashid], “Maybe it will set in a little bit later, but I’m just trying to do what I want to do – when Tendo walked in, we knew we had to go straight to him, and that worked and then just carried on to Edwards too,” Curtis Campher told at the post-match conference.

Curtis Campher Feels He Will Need To Keep Improving

Curtis Campher mentioned that the analyst suggested the plan of attacking the stumps and reckoned that it will not be a matter of time since he starts forgetting the dream spell. He added that he was delighted to end up on the winning side at the end.

“Both those [attacking the stumps] were plans worked out from the analyst, and that kind of fit into my game, so maybe in a few hours or a few days, it might rub off. But to be honest, I’m just happy with the win, and that’s all that matters,” he added.

Ireland has a big game coming up against Sri Lanka tomorrow night in the T20 World Cup 2021 qualifiers.
