Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj’s meteoric rise in international cricket came along in India’s recent tour of Australia, where he shone to script a famous series victory for the tourists. With 13 wickets in three Tests, including a fifer, Mohammed Siraj was the highest wicket-taker for India. The 27-year old has credited the visit down under in his career transformation and spoke about his chances of playing in the ICC World Test Championship final.

Mohammed Siraj has arguably been one of the most improved bowlers of the current era. Not only he has improved himself in international cricket, but also in the IPL, where batsmen used to milk him for plenty of runs. He currently 16 scalps in five Tests at 28.25. The right-arm paceman took six wickets in seven IPL games for the Royal Challengers Bangalore this year at 31.83 and maintained a decent economy rate of 7.35.

The Hyderabad-born fast-bowler will head to England, where he would be one of the many pace bowlers along with Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav, and Shardul Thakur. Having impressed in India and Australia, he would be licking his lips to bowl with the Dukes ball in the English conditions.

Mohammed Siraj revealed that the Australian tour transformed him as a fast bowler as it was incredible to defeat them in their backyard. The 27-year old also enjoys the competition that exists for the slot and hailed all the seniors for helping him out. Nevertheless, Siraj is unsure of playing in the ICC World Test Championship final, but is determined to prepare himself well for the big game.

“Obviously, the last Australian tour was the defining moment of my career which resulted in a complete change in my attitude towards bowling. It is a great feeling to be part of this Indian team which can beat the best on their home soil. Personally, I am enjoying the kind of competition I face for a slot in such a formidable outfit. The best part is that all the seniors are so good and open to giving invaluable tips. This is helping me learn a lot about the art of pace bowling. Honestly, I don’t know whether I will be there in the eleven or not for the WTC final, but I am determined to bowl as well as possible in the run-up to that big game,” Siraj told ABP News.
