India batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has lauded Team India’s spirit while praising Mohammed Siraj for his epic reaction to Ravichandran Ashwin’s century in the recently concluded second Test match between India and England in Chennai.

Ravichandran Ashwin produced a Player of the Match performance in the second Test match by picking 8 wickets including a five-wicket haul and then scored a brilliant 106 with 14 fours and 1 six. His century helped India make 286 in the second innings and put a target of 482 runs for England to chase.

Ravichandran Ashwin came back stronger in the second Test after, despite his 6/61 in the first match of the four-Test series in Chennai, the Indian team lost the Test match by 227 runs. However, this time, Ravi Ashwin took it upon himself to produce an all-time greatest all-around performance.

Rohit Sharma had scored 161, while Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant made the fifties in India’s first innings score of 329 runs. Then Ashwin showed the magic of his fingers, picking five crucial wickets and helping Indian bowlers rout England for 134 runs. He then scored a sublime century, helping India captain Virat Kohli (62) add 96 runs for the seventh wicket and setting England a tough target.

However, an interesting thing happened as Ravichandran Ashwin reached his century and celebrated his achievement. Mohammed Siraj, who was at the non-strikers’ end, celebrated more enthusiastically than Ashwin himself and his antics of hand pumping in the air was caught by cameras, giving the fans and experts a feel-good moment.

Even the great Sachin Tendulkar loved the way Siraj celebrated Ashwin’s achievement. The way he was overjoyed and enjoyed Ashwin’s century led to Tendulkar saying that this is what a team sport is all about and praised Team India for this ability to enjoy each other’s success.
