Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has become the 4th batsman in history to score 5000 One Day International runs in the home matches.
Batting maestro Virat Kohli achieved this enormous milestone in the first ODI match of the three-match One Day International series between Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Kieron Pollard-led West Indies National Cricket Team on Sunday, February 6 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Although Kohli didn’t have a great outing with the bat in the match, it was good enough for him to reach the 5000-run landmark. The 33-year-old came out to bat after Rohit Sharma’s wicket in the 14th over. His innings lasted just 4 balls and he scored 8 runs, he smashed Alzarri Joseph for two back-to-back boundaries before being dismissed in the 5th ball of the 14th over.
Virat Kohli now has 5002* runs in the home ODIs at an incredible average of 59.54 and a strike rate of 96.67, including 19 centuries and 25 half-centuries.

Virat Kohli, who has scored has scored over 12000 One Day International runs, is the fastest player to achieve the 5000-run milestone at home. Notably, he has achieved this milestone in just 96 innings.
Sachin Tendulkar reached this landmark in 121 innings while Jacques Kallis reached this milestone in 130 innings. Also, Ricky Ponting took 138 innings to complete 5000 runs in home ODIs.
