Virat Kohli Is My Inspiration: Suryakumar Yadav

India and Mumbai batsman Suryakumar Yadav had called current India captain Virat Kohli his inspiration during a Q&A session on Instagram. He was asked to describe Virat Kohli in one world and Suryakumar chose ‘inspiration’ as his answer.

Suryakumar, who was pegged for an India debut, achieved his dream of donning the India blues during the T20I series against England and started off well by hitting his first ball for a six and scoring a half-century in his first innings in T20Is. All those years of scoring buckets of runs in the Indian domestic circuit and the Indian Premier League came to fruition as Suryakumar excelled at the international level.

Indian captain Virat Kohli has been a revelation in world cricket since his debut for India in 2008 and since then has broken records after records in all three formats. He has played 91 Tests this far, scoring 7490 runs with 27 centuries to his name. In 254 ODIs, he has 12169 runs with 43 centuries and in 90 T20Is, Kohli has 3159 runs with 28 half-centuries to his name.

He is the only batsman to average more than 50 in all three international formats and is the leading run-getter in T20I cricket. He is also the highest run-getter in Indian Premier League (IPL) history with over 6,000 runs to his name, as he was the first batsman to reach this milestone.

As a captain, Virat Kohli has excelled for India since taking over in 2017 from MS Dhoni. He has 27 wins in 45 T20I matches, 36 wins in 60 Tests and 65 wins in 95 ODIs as the captain of India. He has kept India at the numero uno position in the ICC Test team rankings for the past five years and will be leading the team in the first-ever ICC World Test Championship final on June 18, when India plays New Zealand in Southampton in England.
