Indian captain Virat Kohli’s poor form in Test cricket reached a new low on the second afternoon of the Nottingham as he registered his fifth golden duck in the longest format of the game.

And, as a result, the champion Indian batsman has notched up an unwanted record as he became the Indian captain to register the most number of ducks in Test match cricket.

This was Kohli’s 9th duck in Tests and he has now surpassed former skipper MS Dhoni’s tally of most ducks by an Indian captain.

Virat Kohli vs James Anderson was billed as the contest of the summer by fans and pundits and the champion England seamer has won the first round, having dismissed Virat for the first time since Manchester 2014.

Coming to the dismissal, Virat was looking to play for the inswing as he rolled out a big front-foot stride.

However, to his utter shock, the ball straightened to take the outside edge of his bat and Jos Buttler made no mistake in gobbling a simple catch.

This is Virat Kohli’s second consecutive duck against England in England in Test cricket and his dismissal preceded by yet another failure of Cheteshwar Pujara followed by the run out of Ajinkya Rahane means that the game is right in the balance with India faltering to 4/125 after being 0/97 at one stage.
