India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is facing the heat on social media for returning to India from Sri Lanka ahead of a crucial game in Asia Cup 2023. The fast-bowler, on Sunday (September 3), returned to Mumbai to be with his wife Sanjana Ganesan for the birth of their first child.
And on Monday (September 4), the couple was blessed with its first child. Jasprit Bumrah took to social media to announce the news to his fans and followers. The India star revealed that he and his wife have been blessed with a baby boy and also revealed that they have named him Angad.
But while the pacer returned home to be with his wife for one of the best moments of his life, a number of fans were not at all impressed with it. The reason was that the pacer would not miss the crucial game against Nepal in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.
Fans slam Jasprit Bumrah:
India will lock horns against Nepal in the do-or-die match on Monday (September 4) in Pallekele. The Men in Blue need to avoid a defeat at any cost against the minnows to progress to the Super 4. India’s first game of the tournament which was against Pakistan was washed out. As a result, India and Pakistan shared one point each.
The Men in Blue now need at least one point to make it to the next round. Even if the game is washed out, the Rohit Sharma-led side will join Pakistan in the Super 4. However, an unexpected defeat could see India crash out of the Asia Cup in a humiliating manner.
And while India are still the favourites to beat Nepal even in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence, the fans were not at all happy with the pacer’s decision to leave for home before such a big game. While a number of fans praised Jasprit Bumrah for being with his wife at such a crucial time, few others slammed him and questioned his commitment to the national team.
Here are some of the reactions to Jasprit Bumrah returning home:
When ziva was born in 2015 during the WC, MS Dhoni said “ I am on national duty, Won't go back and leave my team in the middle”
Today, Bumrah left immediately in the middle of the Asia Cup for the birth of his child.
Guess, that kind of commitment is no longer existent. pic.twitter.com/foTF4JjX2t

That is what makes Dhoni the greatest cricketer.
We will never see someone so passionate about cricket.
Love for Thala ??

Here are some of the reactions showing the fans praising as well as defending Jasprit Bumrah:
Prioritising Family Should be appreciated, not criticised
There is a life beyond cricket, cricket is just a part of life not life, understand the difference & respect the individual decisions https://t.co/whTVD3aBCh

It's a personal choice. Take sport as sport and accept that sportsman has personal life too.
Such toxic fan culture is unnecessary https://t.co/AhX1Ux3cW6

The fact that it got 1.2m views is absolutely disgusting. He got what he wanted. Bumrah will only miss the game against ‘Nepal’ and then join the team straight away before Super 4 round.
Humiliating players and questioning their dedication for the country just because they… https://t.co/y6EaN6IJXN

Guys, I’m the biggest Dhoni fan you’ll ever see. But being present at your child’s birth is a matter of personal choice and it shouldn’t be held against him.
Dhoni did it and it was his personal choice. Same with Bumrah. This is his personal choice.
I understand this fact now… https://t.co/hNVqOZbvA3

Well, he was committed to be with his wife to share their happiest moment of entering parenthood! He has all the right to do that. Unfair to compare/judge him. Players are human. Let’s not be so harsh.
Also, no feat gives as much joy as holding your baby for the first time. https://t.co/W5ukuYgjov— Irena Akbar (@irenaakbar) September 3, 2023
