South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj had a sensational outing in the field during the T20 World Cup 2024 final against India National Cricket Team. The high-octane clash between the teams is taking place at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown Barbados on Saturday (29th June).

Keshav Maharaj made a staggering contribution for South Africa in the big match as he chipped in with both ball as well as with his fielding effort for his team. The spinner brought his team back into the game when the Indian team were off to a flying start, credit to Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Keshav Maharaj picked two wickets in the single over and then turned things around for his team in the big final. It's fair to say that his two scalps in the second over of the match pushed India on the backfoot as they looked all set for a total of around 200, especially with the kind of boundaries Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli hit.

If this was not enough, Keshav Maharaj then came up with a sensational fielding effort on the last ball of the innings. The spinner took a brilliant catch to remove Ravindra Jadeja and saved important runs for his team, which could well turn out to be a difference as the game progresses.

Anrich Nortje bowled a fuller delivery that was pitched outside off and slanted away from Ravindra Jadeja. The all-rounder looked to slog but got it off the outside half. They looped in the air in front of extra cover where Keshav Maharaj came in running across and took a sensational catch.

Here's the video:

India had a decent outing with the bat as Virat Kohli stepped up big-time for his team in the final. After they lost Rohit Sharma (9), Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav (3) early. Kohli along with Axar Patel (47) bailed the team out of trouble with their sensational 72-run partnership.

Virat Kohli scored a sensational 76 runs and batted till the very end. Shivam Dube (27) played a vital hand down the order and made sure that India went past the 150-run mark. Based on the collective effort, the Rohit Sharma-led side posted a total of 176 runs on the board.

We can do it, opportunities like this don't come often - Keshav Maharaj

Keshav Maharaj, who returned with the figures of 2/23 in his 3 overs, talked about his performance with the ball. He mentioned that he used the breeze and also talked about the conditions. The spinner also expressed confidence in his team to chase the target and lift their first-ever T20 World Cup 2024. He explained:

"I was just trying to use the surface, use the breeze and luckily it paid off. The pitch started slow, but it has got better now and hopefully, it will be good to chase. The catching and outfield were good, it's something we pride ourselves on. We can do it, opportunities like this don't come often and the boys are ready to go. Hope we can grab it with both hands," he concluded.
