Watch: Lyndon James Knocks Over Mayank Agarwal With A Nip-Backer

Mayank Agarwal squandered a golden opportunity to get some valuable runs under his belt before the Test series against England as he fell for a brisk 35-ball 28 on the first morning of the ongoing three-day warm-up game against County Select XI in Durham.

Stand-in captain Rohit Sharma won the toss on Tuesday morning and he had no hesitation in opting to bat first.

And, India did get off to a decent start as Rohit and, especially, Mayank Agarwal, took a heavy toll on Avesh Khan, who is bowling for County Select XI.

Mayank played some gorgeous strokes during his stay at the crease, and for once it looked like the gifted opener was in for a long haul.

Anything that was pitched short and wide, he rocked back on the backfoot and flayed it past point while anything that was pitched on a fullish length, Mayank cashed in and drove past covers or towards the long-on region.

His innings, however, came to an end shortly after he was undone by a brilliant nip-backer from Lyndon James.

It all happened on the 4th delivery of the 14th over when Lyndon James got one to seam back from the 5th stump line into Agarwal.

The Karnataka opener went for an ill-fated drive, only to see the ball breach the gap between his bat and pad and knock over his middle and leg stump.

Post the dismissal of Mayank Agarwal, India lost Cheteshwar Pujara at the stroke of Lunch. Pujara was outfoxed by spinner Jack Carson, who preempted the former’s move to dance down the track, and ended up dragging his length back.

Pujara was caught in no man’s land and ended up getting stumped.

The Indians went into the Lunch break at 3/80 after 30 overs with Hanuma Vihari and KL Rahul holding the fort for the visitors.
