Rishabh Pant is currently on a break after being a part of India's T20 World Cup-winning side in the USA and the Caribbean. He scored 171 runs for India in the World Cup and took 13 catches in the tournament.

Pant recovered from a freakish car accident and made his return to competitive cricket in IPL 2024. After a good stint with the bat and the gloves in the tournament, he was chosen alongside Sanju Samson as the two keeper-batters in the squad.

Incidentally, Pant played all the games while Sanju Samson was kept on the bench. Samson then played in the T20I series as the specialist keeper-batter with Pant rested.

Meanwhile, a video of Rishabh Pant playing a prank on Khaleel Ahmed is going viral on the Internet. Pant can be seen throwing Khaleel into the pool as Axar Patel can also be seen in the video. The video perhaps was shot during the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean as the trio went towards the beach to enjoy.

Khaleel was caught off guard as Pant pushed him into the pool. The left-arm pacer lost his balance and almost lost his phone as well as he dived into the pool. Once he was out of the pool all drenched, Pant was quick to give him a warm-up. The friendship between Pant, Axar Patel, and Khaleel Ahmed is known to everyone. All of them play at the Delhi Capitals in the IPL and share a great bond and rapport.

After a brief rest from international cricket, Pant is expected to be selected in the Indian squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka. With Rohit Sharma retired from T20I cricket, he is one of the contenders to lead India in the format. As per reports, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav are the other possible contenders as well.

Pant might also bat up the order with Virat Kohli retiring from T20I cricket as well. He batted at three throughout the T20 World Cup and scored some valuable runs for India. He was also very safe behind the stumps and clean with his glovework. The new-look management will look to include him in the leadership group as well.

India's next series after Zimbabwe is against Sri Lanka and Pant is expected to be selected as the specialist keeper-batsman. It will be interesting to see whether the likes of Sanju Samson or Jitesh Sharma are selected as well.

Like all the other Indian cricketers the T20 World Cup win was an emotional feeling for Rishabh Pant as well. On July 4th when the victorious Indian players were doing the roadshow in Mumbai Pant thanked the Mumbai crowd for their constant support.

"Mazaa aa gaya (enjoyed it). Amazing feeling. Kya janta hai yaar (amazing fans)," Pant could be heard saying in the video where he switched between panning the camera on the crowd, his teammates, and himself.
