Chennai Super Kings have responded with a fiery start in their ongoing clash against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf Du Plessis hardly gave the opposition any opportunities during their century. However, the former exited the stage first after a brisk fifty as Varun Chakravarthy delivered the first breakthrough for the Knight Riders.
The dismissal occurred in the 13th over as Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan introduced Varun Chakravarthy to complete his spell. Fortunately, the leggie struck in the second ball of his final over as Ruturaj Gaikwad wanted to clear the deep mid-wicket for a six. However, he could not get the elevation as Pat Cummins grabbed the catch to give his side some respite.
Below is the dismissal clip of Ruturaj Gaikwad, whose wicket was taken by Varun Chakravarthy:
In the 11th over, Gaikwad completed his half-century, reaching there off 32 deliveries. It was also the end of Chakravarthy’s spell as he ended his day with respectable figures of 4-0-27-1. Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and made two changes to their line-up. The two-time champions drafted Sunil Narine for Shakib Al Hasan and seamer Kamlesh Nagarkoti for veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh.
In contrast, Chennai Super Kings made only one change by swapping Dwayne Bravo for Lungi Ngidi. The yellow army started their tournament with a loss; however, they have recorded back to back wins. On the other hand, the Knight Riders beat the SunRisers Hyderabad in the first game, but have slumped to back to back defeats.
