He recently missed the one-off Test against Afghanistan with a stiff back before returning to action in the ongoing ODI series. Tamim played in the first ODI on Wednesday (July 5) in which Bangladesh suffered a defeat. And just a day after leading the team, he has announced his retirement from all forms of the game with immediate effect.
Tamim Iqbal gets emotional:
While announcing the decision during a press conference, Tamim Iqbal became emotional and broke down in tears. Although he did not reveal the reason behind his abrupt decision, he insisted that it was not a sudden decision from him.
“This is the end for me. I have given my best. I have tried my best. I am retiring from international cricket from this moment,” Tamim said.
“Yesterday against Afghanistan was my last international game. It was not a sudden decision. I was thinking about the different reasons. I don’t want to mention here. I have spoken to my family members about it. I thought this is the right time for me to retire from international cricket,” he added.
