South Africa head into the five-match T20I series after beating the Windies in a two-match Test series. South Africa enjoys a six-four win advantage against the hosts. The last time both these teams played a T20I international was in the 2016 T20 World Cup. The Windies emerged victorious in that game.
The 2016 T20 World Cup changed the image of Windies cricket, especially in the T20I format. The Proteas are up for a big challenge in the upcoming five-match series which starts later tonight. Meanwhile, in this article, we predict South Africa’s predicted playing XI for the second T20I. They are missing the likes of AB De Villiers and Faf Du Plessis.
West Indies vs South Africa, 2nd T20I: South Africa’s Predicted XI
Quinton de Kock
De Kock is among the most experienced batsman in an otherwise inexperienced side. He is closing in on 10000 international runs and the upcoming series will be an important one for his T20 World Cup preparations.

Reeza Hendricks
He has been in the T20I circuit for South Africa for quite some time now. However, he is yet to give his best. He gives another opportunity in the absence of Aiden Markram from the squad.
Temba Bavuma
The newly appointed South African T20I skipper follows the openers at number three. Not long ago, Bavuma was seen as a Test specialist. However, he has changed his game. He faces his big challenge of facing a Windies side packed with T20 superstars.
Rassie van der Dussen
David Miller
Miller is the most experienced batsman among the players selected in South Africa’s T20I squad for the series. One imagines this is an important series for him in the build-up to the T20 World Cup. A veteran of 81 T20Is, Miller is very much the playmaker of the side.
Heinrich Klaasen
Klaasen has the ability to hit big shots. He also can open the innings if required. However, in the current line-up, he will bat in the middle-order and probably after Miller. Thus he will be required to get maximum runs in the final few overs.
Andile Phehlukwayo
Phelukwayo is very much the designated all-rounder in the absence of Chris Morris from the series. He hits the ball big in the death overs and can bowl decent spells as well.
Kagiso Rabada
Rabada will be up against the likes of Gayle, Pollard. His job will be to dismiss the Windies’ big hitters and limit them from scoring big. Very surprisingly he is not within the top 20 bowlers in the ICC rankings currently.
Anrich Nortje
Nortje will partner Rabada from the other end. He will come up against the likes of Pooran and Russell in the death overs. The Protean bowlers very well know that both these batsmen are uncomfortable against the short ball and should definitely use that as a wicket-taking option.
Lungi Ngidi
Ngidi completes the pace trio. The wicket in Grenada is expected to be a dry wicket. Thus all three South African pacers will have to use their variations properly to extract the most from the wicket.
Tabraiz Shamsi
Shamsi will be South Africa’s specialist spinner in the T20I series. He is currently the top-ranked spinner in the ICC rankings. He has already picked up 10 wickets in the format this year.
