In the opening game of Legends League Cricket 2022 on Thursday, India Maharajas defeated Asia Lions by 6 wickets. India Maharajas, led by Mohammad Kaif in the match, won the toss and opted to bowl first.

For Asia Lions, former Sri Lanka player Upul Tharanga slammed a 66-run knock. Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq also smacked valuable 44 runs off 30 balls. For India, Manpreet Gony picked 3 wickets while Irfan Pathan grabbed 2 wickets. Stuart Binny and Munaf Patel also clinched one scalp each. Asia Lions piled up 175-7 on the scoreboard.

Later, India Maharajas lost openers Naman Ojha for 20 and Stuart Binny for 10. Subramaniam Badrinath got out for a duck while batting one-down. Later, Mohammad Kaif and Yusuf Pathan stiched an incredible partnership of 117-runs.

Yusuf Pathan slammed a marvellous 80 off 40 balls before losing his wicket through an unlucky run-out. Kaif also played a patient innings of 42 runs of 37 balls, giving great support to Yusuf Pathan. In the end, India needed just 1 run off the final over and Kaif slammed a boundary to win the match for India by 6 wickets.

Now, Asia Lions will take on World Giants on January 21. Misbah-ul-Haq will lead Asia Lions while Daren Sammy is the captain of World Giants. Asia Lions has players like Tillakaratne Dilshan, Mohammed Hafeez, Shoaib Akhtar, Kamran Akmal, and Muttiah Muralitharan to name a few.
