S Sreesanth has revealed that Gautam Gambhir kept calling him a fixer during the ugly altercation that took place during a Legends League Cricket match on Wednesday (December 6). The incident took place during the Eliminator between India Capitals and Gujarat Giants.
It all began in the very second over of the game when Capitals captain Gautam Gambhir was facing the pacer. S Sreesanth began with a wide delivery before being hit for a six and a four by his former India teammate. In the same over when S Sreesanth bowled a dot delivery, he decided to give Gautam Gambhir a long stare which did not go down well with the latter.
The former India opener did not say anything to the fast bowler but made his feelings clear with a gesture using his hand. Later in the game, the two were involved in another ugly heated exchange and came face to face before being separated by the players and the umpire. After the game ended, S Sreesanth posted a video in which he criticized Gautam Gambhir for using some unpleasant words against him. However, he did not reveal the exact words that were said.
S Sreesanth reveals Gautam Gambhir’s words:
On Thursday (December 7), S Sreesanth took to Instagram to reveal the exact words said to him by Gautam Gambhir. The former India pacer revealed that Gambhir kept calling him a fixer and even abused him on the field. He also stated that the opener abused the umpires too when they tried to control him.
“I just wanted to come live and tell you all straight because rather than telling each and every channel one by one, I just wanted to clear the air again. Yesterday, I did not tell what he called me,” said S Sreesanth before stating that Gautam Gambhir is spreading negativity about him through his PR.
“He kept on calling me, on live television, I have not used a single bad word, I have not used a single abusive word for him, I only said ‘What are you saying?’ and I kept laughing in a sarcastic way because he kept calling me a ‘fixer, you are a fixer, fu** off fixer‘.
“This is the language that he used on live television. Even he used the same language for the umpires when they were trying to control him. I just moved away but he kept on saying the same word again and again,” he added.

In 2013, S Sreesanth along with his former IPL teammates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan was arrested by Delhi Police on charges of spot-fixing. Later, BCCI’s disciplinary committee banned him for life. In 2015, he was acquitted in the spot-fixing case before the Kerala High Court restored the life ban in 2017.
However, in 2019, the Supreme Court of India “set aside” the life ban imposed on him by the BCCI. Later, the BCCI reduced his ban to 7 years.
