Legendary Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is on the verge of stepping into a new chapter of his cricketing journey, and this time, in a full-fledged coaching position in the IPL. Yuvraj Singh is all set to replace Justin Langer as the head coach of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
After a couple of poor seasons under Langer’s tenure, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are all for a complete overhaul in the backroom staff after cutting ties with Zaheer Khan. Next on the radar is the great Australian Langer, as the franchise is looking for an Indian personality to turn the fortune.
Yuvraj Singh set to become Lucknow Super Giants’ new Head Coach
As reported by InsideSports, the LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka is in advanced talks with Yuvraj Singh, and if everything goes as planned, the appointment of the two-time World Cup winner will make his coaching debut in the IPL 2026, where he could redefine the team’s culture and mindset.

The move comes at a crucial time for LSG, who have struggled to find consistency over the past two seasons. The Lucknow-based franchise has failed to reach the IPL playoffs for the past two seasons, prompting the team management to go for a complete reboot.
With Zaheer Khan’s exit as bowling consultant, the LSG has already begun reshaping its support staff. The addition of Kane Williamson as a strategic advisor was the first big step, and now, Yuvraj’s possible arrival hints at an even bolder transformation ahead of the IPL 2026.

If finalized, this will be Yuvraj Singh’s first-ever coaching stint in the IPL, where he once ruled as one of its most explosive players. Goenka is interested in Yuvraj due to his growing influence as a mentor for some of India's brightest young talents, including captain Shubman Gill.
The former Indian all-rounder has been working closely with the likes of Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, and Prabhsimran Singh at his training base in Chandigarh. Even Gill and Abhishek have openly given credit to the World Cup winner for their success at the highest level.
His hands-on approach, focus on mental strength, and match-like training drills have helped several youngsters transform into confident, attacking players, and these traits fit perfectly with what LSG currently needs to turn their fortune in the Indian T20 league.

LSG eye Yuvraj Singh to unlock young Indian talent
Yuvraj’s possible arrival could especially benefit LSG’s young Indian talents like Ayush Badoni, Devdutt Padikkal, and Ravi Bishnoi, who have shown promise but lacked consistency, and the team can embrace the aggression and fearlessness under Rishabh Pant’s captaincy.
For Yuvraj, this potential move marks a major turning point. After a short stint in the Abu Dhabi T10 League as the mentor, this role would officially launch him into the elite IPL coaching circle. If Yuvraj joins LSG as the head coach, this will end Langer’s association with the franchise.
Earlier, Yuvraj was also in talks with the Delhi Capitals and the Gujarat Titans for a big role.
