Bangladesh are making a comeback into Test cricket after losing their previous Test series against Sri Lanka earlier this year in April. They played a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka which was a part of the ICC World Test Championship. The Lankans beat the Tigers 1-0 in the series and won it. Meanwhile, against Zimbabwe, they have a very good record.

In 17 Tests, the side has won seven Tests with three draws. They have won the last two Tests against the African nation, the last of which came in Dhaka in 2020. In this article, we take a look at Bangladesh‘s predicted XI for the one-off Test in Bulawayo.

Tamim Iqbal was the leading run-scorer for his side against Bangladesh but failed to inspire his team to a win. He scored 280 runs in the two Tests and the onus will be once again on him to give his team a good start in the one-off Test against Bangladesh. He is the ODI captain of the side on this tour.

Saif Hassan

Saif Hassan, Bangladesh's best-kept long-format secret

Youngster Saf Hassan will pair up with the experienced Iqbal as the other opener in the Test match. He played both the Test matches against Sri Lanka and scored a few runs in the second Test. He should use this opportunity to his best after a string of low scores in the series against Sri Lanka.

Shakib Al Hasan

The experienced figure of Shakib Al Hasan slots in at number three. He is fifth in the all-rounder’s list in the ICC rankings currently. Despite him being in the news for the wrong reasons, the BCB included him for the series against Zimbabwe. His on-field behavior in recent times has been questioned after his antics in the Dhaka Premier League. Shakib is a part of all three squads for the series.

Mushfiqur Rahim

Former skipper Mushfiqur Rahim should bat at number four. Rahim and Shakib has been the pillars of Bangladesh’s batting line-up for over a decade and a half. This test match should be a good way for them to bring their experience into play against an inexperienced Zimbabwean side.

Mominul Haque

The skipper slots in at number five. He saw his side slide to a 1-0 loss under his leadership against Sri Lanka. The Test series against Zimbabwe is a good opportunity to put up a good performance as a team and on a personal level as well.

Liton Das

He is the wicketkeeper batsman in the XI. With time, Liton Das has transformed himself into an all-format player for Bangladesh. He will bat at number six for his side. Against Sri Lanka, he scored 75 runs in the two Tests that he played.

He is a left-arm spinner in the side. He picked up eight wickets in the Test series against Sri Lanka. In Bulawayo in the one-off Test, he can be a wicket-taking option for Bangladesh given that sun will be out for all five days and pitches to wear out as the game progresses.

Taskin Ahmed

Taskin finished with 8 wickets in the Test series against Sri Lanka. He picked the joint-most wickets in the series with Tajiul Islam. Against Zimbabwe, he will well and truly lead the bowling attack has been with the side for a long time now.
