Only Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene is close to Dravid who has 205 catches to his name. With the former Sri Lankan cricketer not playing anymore, Dravid’s record is likely to remain intact.

Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene have been the greatest servant of Sri Lankan cricket. They have batted together in many occasions to bail their country out of danger.

Their best partnership is the mammoth 624 runs they put on for the third wicket against South Africa at Colombo in 2006. Meanwhile, this record is unlikely to break as these days wickets are more result-oriented.

Ricky Ponting is one of the best Australian cricketers to have played the game. Playing 100 Tests is one of the biggest achievements as a cricketer, and the former Australia skipper has 108 Test wins to his name.

With cricket becoming competitive these days, it is unlikely that any cricketer will be able to break the current record held by Pointing. He also holds the record of the most percentage of wins by a Test skipper.

South African wicket-keeper Mark Boucher is one of the best wicket-keeper to have played the game of cricket. He has the most number of dismissals across the formats, making him one of the legends. He has 998 dismissals to his name as he leaves behind Australia’s Adam Gilchrist.

Among 998, Boucher has 555 dismissals in Test cricket which are the most among in history of the five-day format of the game. The game being more batsman-oriented these days, the management tends to field a batting wicket-keeper which makes it impossible to break Boucher’s record.

Former Australian skipper Allan Border holds the record of most successive matches played by a cricketer. Border has played 153 Test matches without taking a break. He is one of the legendary cricketers to represent Australia.

The players these days are more injury-prone, which makes it difficult for the current generation cricketers to break this record. Alastair Cook is only the closest cricketer to Allan Border with 109 consecutive matches.

6. Jim Laker’s 19 wickets in a Test

Jim Laker achieved almost the impossible when he claimed 19 wickets in a Test match against Australia in 1956. Lakers became the first bowler to take ten wickets in an innings when he took 10-53 in the second innings of the game. In the first innings, he managed to take 9-37 which totals to 19-90 in the match.

Laker’s feat is something next to impossible to break. It will be a miracle if any bowler of the current generation manages to pick 20 wickets and break his record.

5. Graeme Smith’s 109 Tests as a skipper

Former South Africa skipper led South Africa in more than 100 Test matches, which is a massive feat to achieve. Playing 100 Tests is itself an outstanding feather, and Smith has led the Proteas in 109 of the 117 Tests he played.

To play 100 red-ball games is a big act these days and breaking Smith’s record 109 matches as a skipper is a tough record to break.

Previously, the teams from Asia prepared flat wickets giving batsmen the opportunity to dominate the game. But nowadays, the pitches have changed a lot to equal things out between batters and bowlers. As a result, Sri Lanka’s 952 for six in one innings is an impossible record to break.
