Melbourne Renegades skipper, Aaron Finch has been reprimanded for hitting a plastic chair with his bat during the BBL 2018/19 finale. On Sunday, against Melbourne Stars, Finch got run-out in an unfortunate manner; venting his frustration while heading towards the dressing room. Though he kept his cool on his way on the ground, he smashed the chair twice which got caught on the camera. Meanwhile, Melbourne Renegades defeated Melbourne Stars in the finals by 13 runs – clinching the BBL trophy for the first time in eight years.

Finch accepts charge

It was early in the innings when Finch was at the receiving end of the things. As Cameron White hit a straight drive, it scooped off Jackson Bird’s shoe and went onto hit the stumps. Finch, who was standing at the other end just couldn’t put his bat in time to save his wicket. As a result, he fell short of his crease and had to walk in the crucial clash. Further, Aaron Finch was reprimanded for a Level 1 breach of CA’s Code of Conduct for equipment abuse but did not fine.

Meanwhile, the summer has been more or less the same for the Australia opener. He didn’t hit gold during India Tests and was not among runs during the ODIs as well. Finch said,

“Just about sums up my summer,” Finch said. “But that happens. It’s a tough one, you’re looking to score, looking to get down the wicket, pinch a one here or there, but it happens.”

Not only this, Renegades coach, Andre McDonald revealed the skipper had accepted the charge. He added,

“He’s taken that and accepted that and received a reprimand,” McDonald said on Monday. “I’ve only seen the paperwork. I haven’t seen the actual footage. I’ll probably see it today. Do I forgive him? It’s probably an act that’s brought about my emotion, it’s probably a build-up of the summer and probably just plays out in that moment.”

Finch, Australia look to India tour

As Finch will lead Australia in India and the UAE in their lead up to the 2019 World Cup, he aims to get back in form. In the absence of David Warner and Steven Smith, the onus will be on him to perform and guide the team to glory.

Australia will first face India in two T20Is, and five ODIs, starting on February 24th before heading to the UAE for five ODIs against Pakistan.
