India cricket team’s senior campaigner, Ajinkya Rahane is an optimist, who is ready to find a silver lining in everything, including his omission from India’s limited-overs squad from the England tour.

Meanwhile, Rahane feels missing out from the limited-overs squad will give him more time to prepare for the Test series.

Virat Kohli & Co will play five-match Test series against England after the white-ball cricket.

It is important that you get time to prepare yourself and clarity is important when you know that you are not in ODI squad and you just going to play Test matches in England. I will get good amount of time for the Afghanistan Test and after that for the England tour,” Rahane told reporters.

Rahane also dismissed any air of frustration. Instead, the right-hander said it would motivate, and he will look for a comeback.

Hopeful of turning the table

With enough indication he has fallen off the radar in shorter formats, Rahane is confident to turn things around.

The Mumbai batsmen he believes in himself and has done well in whatever opportunities he has got.

I still believe in myself. I did well in ODI cricket whenever I got my opportunities. In West Indies, I got man-of-the-series award (with four half-centuries). Against Australia, I did really well. In South Africa, the team management asked me to bat at No 4 and I did well, so it is just a matter of time. I am still confident that I will make a comeback and do well for my country in shorter format,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rahane will be leading the Indian side against Afghanistan in the absence of Virat Kohli. India will play the debutant Afghanistan in a one-off Test match starting from June 14 in Bengaluru.

In conclusion, he lauded the Afghanistan team for playing good cricket and earning the Test status.
