Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary India batsman Sachin Tendulkar, will not bowl under the tutelage of the Under-19 head coach, Rahul Dravid. Junior Tendulkar received his maiden call to the Under-19 Indian squad yesterday.
Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid will travel with India A team on the tour of England. Consequently, the Wall will not be available for the Under-19 Indian team for their two four day games in Sri Lanka.
Thus, WV Raman will hold the reins of the coach for the Junior Indian team.
India A will play a tri-series with England Lion (England A), and Windies A. Shreyas Iyer will lead India A squad in the limited-overs format, whereas, Karun Nair will take up the captaincy duties for the Test team.
Dravid had also missed the previous foreign tour of the Under-19 team. The former Indian skipper had to be available for India A tour of South Africa. Thus, Dravid had to miss the Under-19 tour of England.
However, Arjun Tendulkar was able to break into the Under-19 team. The fast bowler will bowl under the captaincy of Anuj Rawat. Indian Under-19 team will also play five One-Dayers against hosts Sri Lanka after two four day games.
Therefore, it would be a golden opportunity for the megastar’s son to make a name for himself at the Junior Level.
Tendulkar had already impressed with his brisk pace. Thus, the 18-year old will like to come up good in the Sri Lankan conditions.
Meanwhile, Arjun Tendulkar could not make the cut into the One-Day set-up of the Under-19 team.
