Team India vice-captain in the limited-overs format, Rohit Sharma is all set to lead India in the upcoming Asia Cup 2018 in the absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli. On the other side, Rohit is leading Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians (MI).

The latter has been rested as he has been playing non-stop cricket. Earlier, Rohit, on the other hand, was not included in the Test squad for England tour.

Hence, he got enough time in preparing himself mentally and physically both as a batsman and as a skipper. Well, it won’t be the first time, Rohit will be leading the national side. He has taken care of this role whenever Kohli has been rested for any limited-overs series.

Rohit Sharma reveals the difference:

A fan asked him what’s the difference between captaining the national team and the MI in the IPL is. He gave a pretty straightforward reply.

“One is teammates you travel with all year round, and the other is players you play against and may never have even met before!” he said.

Moreover, Rohit rued his missed opportunity in the longest format. He acknowledged the fact that he won’t mind opening in Test cricket as well if given a chance. A sensational white-ball batsman, Rohit has never managed to replicate his form the most extended format especially in overseas conditions.

However, for now, Rohit Sharma will look to lead India to a triumph in the Asia Cup 2018. Moreover, he will be eyeing to get some runs under his belt as some senior players won’t be featuring in the game.
