India tied the T20I series against Australia, won their maiden Test series on Australian soil by 2-1 and have also clinched their ODI series by 2-1. Subsequently, India’s captain Virat Kohli is a happy man and said he couldn’t have asked for a better tour to Australia. India was able to come up with a collective team performance on the tour and ticked the right boxes Down Under.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni was the star of the show in the ODI series. The former skipper MS Dhoni scored an unbeaten knock of 87 runs in the decider of the series to help take India over the line. In fact, this was Dhoni’s third fifty of the series as he batted at the top of his game. He was also able to rotate the strike with aplomb.

India ticks the right boxes.

Virat Kohli said in the post-match presentation, “It wasn’t a great wicket to bat on, so we had to take it deep, but they were professional in getting the job done. We were a bit nervous but two set batsmen in knew exactly what they wanted to do. In fact, we wanted to get in a good combination. We wanted to give Kuldeep a rest and we don’t want to be too predictable as well. Chahal came in and bowled beautifully. 6/42 was magnificent”.

“Kedar with bat and ball is always handy. We have been here for a long time. It’s been an amazing tour for us and I couldn’t have asked for a better tour. We drew the T20 series, won the Test and the ODI series. If someone gave me these results before the tour I would have taken it with both hands. I am really grateful and proud of the side. It was a collective effort. We are feeling confident and balanced as a side with the World Cup in mind. Few games against New Zealand and few more back home to strengthen the areas that we need to work on as a team.”

Dhoni did a fine job.

It was a perfect tour for the Indian team. One of the biggest positives of the ODI series was the return of form for MS Dhoni. Dhoni scored three fifties and was adjudged the Man of the series.

Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the Indian bowlers in the first innings. Chahal scalped his best bowling figures of 6-42 and bowled with guile in the Australian innings. The leg-spinner didn’t allow the Australian batsmen off the hook and took his wickets at regular intervals. Consequently, he breathed down the neck of the host’s batsmen.

India would be delighted after a successful tour of Australia. Now, the Men in Blue will take on New Zealand in five One Dayers and three T20Is.
