Well, India scripted history in Australia with a stunning series victory. Virat Kohli and Co played brilliantly to outsmart Australians in each section of the game to make things happen for Indian National Cricket Team. Perhaps, this is the best away series victory for India in the recent past.

India ending a 71-year-old wait to win their first Test series in Australia. India played their maiden Test series against Australia in 1947 and was handed a 4-0 drubbing in the five-match series. In total, India has toured Australia 12 times and finally managed to lift the Test series trophy under Kohli’s captaincy.

A Complete Team Performance by Indians:

Cheteshwar Pujara ended up with a staggering 521 runs in the series at an average of over 74 with three centuries and a half-century. The knock in Adelaide was something, which gave the right kind of start to the series for India.

In the second Test, it was Indian skipper Virat Kohli who scored a century but that was not enough for India to get close to the home team. Nathan Lyon the man of the match troubled the Indian bowlers throughout the match and ended up picking eight wickets.

India bounced back at MCG in the third match and centurion Pujara was at the centre of it again. His 170-run partnership with Kohli put India well and truly on top of the game with a total of 443-7 in the first innings. The Australian batting line-up could not resist the force of the man of the match Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah’s nine wickets in the match helped India win the match by 137 runs.

Coming into this fourth Test, the day 5 morning began with similar dark clouds as seen throughout Sunday. Right at the supposed start of play, rain arrived to prevent any possibility of cricket happening at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Hence, the match was called off at 2.30 pm local time, with no possibility of further play.

With India already having the 2-1 lead, they retained the trophy successfully. Now, they will head into the 3-match ODI series before leaving back home. After that, they will be locking horns against Kiwis.
