Bangladesh Premier League: Ab de Villiers Likely to Play for Rangpur Riders - Reports

Former South Africa cricketer, AB de Villiers will probably be seen playing for Rangpur Riders in the sixth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). However, AB de Villiers has played a lot of franchise-based cricket. He is now ready to entertain the Bangladesh fans with his batting and fielding capabilities in the upcoming season. Reports have come that Villiers has had a word with Rangpur Riders.

Earlier, the English cricketer, Alex Hales also signed the contract with Riders which would also be his first appearance in the BPL. However, AB de Villiers might be the new resource for Rangpur Riders, and it got revealed from the sources of the franchise team. Chris Gayle, Mashrafe Mortaza, Nazmul Islam, and Mohammad Mithun are the retained player of Rangpur Riders.
While speaking to Cricbuzz, Rangpur Riders CEO, Ishtiaque Sadeque is hoping Alex Hales to play throughout the tournament.
“We have signed Hales for the upcoming edition of BPL. We are expecting him to be available throughout the tournament.” Ishtiaque Sadeque said to Cricbuzz.
Moreover, Hales was approached by the BPL franchise through Tom Moody. He is the familiar person to coach both Rangpur Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad of the Indian Premier League. Hales also was among the foreign players who was the part of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh PremierLeague will commence from either 4th or 5th of January, 2019 due to the countrywide general election. There might be a possibility that Bangladesh Premier League and the Big Bash League dates might collide.
Furthermore, AB de Villiers played his last T20 match against Rajasthan Royals for Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 19, 2018. He played a brilliant knock of 53 runs from 35 deliveries with the help of seven boundaries.
