During a group-stage match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Virat Kohli, filling in as captain for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, played a remarkable innings of 59 runs against the Punjab Kings.

Kohli’s impressive performance also resulted in breaking a few records, including achieving his 100th 300+ score in franchise-based leagues, as well as crossing the milestone of 600 boundaries.

Prior to this innings, Virat Kohli had hit 598 fours in his Indian Premier League (IPL) career. However, with his performance in the match against Punjab Kings, he surpassed the 600-boundary mark by adding five more to his tally.

Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis had an incredible 137 runs stand for the first wicket in 16 overs as the duo punished the PBKS bowlers all over the park. However, with Harpreet Brar striking Kohli and Maxwell on consecutive deliveries Punjab were able to make a comeback in the game.

Punjab Kings will fancy their chances of bagging the win in the fixture, but it is going to surely be a tough job for the franchise in the absence of the regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan as Punjab have been reliant on the batter.
