India’s talisman off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin suffered a hip injury in the third Test match against England. Thus, it has raised question marks over his participation for the final two Test matches.

Furthermore, the all-rounder also contributed with the bat while batting down the order. Therefore, it is going to be a difficult task for the Indian think tank to fill in the big shoes of Ravichandran Ashwin if he is ruled out. The Tamil Nadu spinner will have a week off to recover from his injury. However, if he fails to recuperate, it is going to be a huge blow to the Indian side.

Consequently, we take a look at four probable replacements who can take the place of Ravichandran Ashwin in the Indian test side for the final two Test matches.

Here are the four replacements for Ravichandran Ashwin.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal has made a strong case for himself to find his place in the red ball team. Chahal has done a fine job in the limited overs format and has been instrumental in the success of the Men in Blue.

However, Yuzvendra Chahal scalped two wickets in the recently concluded India A four-day match against South Africa A. Thus, Yuzvendra Chahal will seek more consistency in the red ball version.

Yuzvendra Chahal can get the ball to spin consistently and is definitely on the radar of the Indian selectors for the Test team. Therefore, Yuzvendra Chahal will like to prove his mettle if he gets his chance.

Axar Patel

Axar is also playing in County Championship.

Axar Patel is known for his accurate bowling. However, the Gujarat spinner doesn’t spin the ball much. Axar Patel is generally right on the money with his line and length. Thus, the southpaw all-rounder doesn’t let the opposition off the hook.

Axar Patel can be consistent with his bowling and he can land his deliveries at the same place, which is pivotal in Test cricket. Furthermore, Axar Patel can contribute with the bat while batting down the order like Ravichandran Ashwin.

Moreover, he is a live wire on the field. Axar Patel scalped one wicket and scored an unbeaten 33 against South Africa A side recently. Furthermore, Axar Patel is also playing in the County championship and scored an unbeaten 95 for Durham.

Krishnappa Gowtham

Krishnappa Gowtham had impressed with his pyrotechnics in the Indian Premier League. Gowtham generally bowls an accurate line and length with his off-spinners. However, he doesn’t turn the ball a great deal like Axar Patel.

Furthermore, the Rajasthan Royals sensation can provide crucial runs while batting down the order. Gowtham is also a good fielder which can help in saving extra runs.

Krunal Pandya

Southpaw Krunal Pandya is also making the headlines like his younger brother. Pandya has all-around abilities and can contribute with both bat and ball

Pandya can be accurate with his left arm spin and can also chip in with the runs with the bat. Thus, he has made a strong case for himself to get his place in the red ball version. Pandya is also impressing while playing for the India A side.

Thus, if Ravichandran Ashwin gets ruled out for the final two test matches, Yuzvendra Chahal, Krisnappa Gowtham, Krunal Pandya and Axar Patel can replace him.
