ENG Vs IND, 2018: Kuldeep Yadav Must Play in the Test Series, Says Phil Tufnell

After bamboozling England in the three-match Twenty20 International series and later in first One-day International at the Trent Bridge, KuldeepYadav faced a mixed reaction on the ongoing England tour.

Soon after taking a six-wicket haul and later on the five-wicket haul, it seems that English batsmen successfully managed to decode him. He was easily picked by English batsmen from there on especially by Test leader, Joe Root.

While praising Kuldeep Yadav and selection committee, the former English left-arm orthodox spinner Phil Tufnell urged Virat Kohli to play him in the impending Test matches.

Chinaman Kuldeep got his maiden Test call on Wednesday (July 18) despite India availing the services of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja is in the squad.

Phil Tufnell called Kuldeep Yadav a rare talent:

The former spinner further lauded Kuldeep by terming him as a rarity.

“You don’t come across too many left-arm wrist spinners. There are a few leg-spinners around across all formats. Kuldeep is a rare bowler. When you come across his type of bowling, you need to really work it out because it is something you haven’t seen before. It is a special thing, and a rarity really,” PTI quoted Tufnell as saying.

Presence of Kuldeep Yadav in playing XI:

When he was asked whether Kohli should include Kuldeep in playing XI or not, Tufnell said, “I would definitely play him.”

Tufnell said it is a good thing from India that they did not ask Kuldeep to return home. He said the weather that England is having right now is likely to remain unchanged for around the next month or so.

The inclusion of three spinners:

When he was asked whether Kohli may include three spinners in the playing XI, Tufnell responded,

“India has three world-class spinners in their Test squad, but I would definitely think of Kuldeep. I would want him hanging close around the English batsmen,” he added.

Prediction for the World Cup:

The former cricketer Tufnell also made his prediction. He said it will be England and India, who will lock with each other in the finals.
