The final Test of the England Vs India 2018 series makes its way. Likewise, during every tour, India once again bagged a lot of problems in their kitty before returing to home. In one of those, the survival of KL Rahul in the Test team has become a problem to sort out. However, he might get one last chance in the fifth and final Oval Test- to prove his mettle and ask Prithvi Shaw to wait a bit longer for his much-awaited Test debut.
Top-order batsman Rahul had a poor Test tour with his willow. He was tried at number three and as an opener in the series so far. However, he couldn’t utilise his chances thus letting himself to be down and in particular the team as well.
Prithvi Shaw might delay a bit to take KL Rahul’s role:
As per the reports of Times of India, the stylish Karnataka batsman, Rahul was given the number of throwdowns by the management during the batting practice.
Adding to his batting ability, the team management prepared Rahul for the slip catching as well. By far, Rahul has been tremendous at slip cordon. He grabbed 11 catches so far in the series.
The reports suggest that Rahul is likely to get another chance if the net session of the Indian team is taken into consideration. He was the first to enter the nets on Wednesday and then practised slip catching.
On the other hand, Prithvi Shaw didn’t get much chance to bat which indicates that the youngster will be benched again and will have to wait for his chance. In that case, the 5th Test at Kennington Oval would be the make or break game for Rahul.
Hanuma Vihari might get the nod:
Meanwhile, India could well give the surprise by handing a debut to Hanuma Vihari at London. He practised for the hours in the nets and also rolled his spinning arm.
As Ravindra Jadeja is almost confirmed to take the place of Ravichandran Ashwin, India might give a surprise by replacing Hardik Pandya with Hanuma Vihari. The Andhra skipper in the Ranji Trophy has got the decent off-spin.
The Oval Test of England Vs India 2018 series will kick off on September 7 and it would be interesting to see who would open the innings for India. In conclusion, KL Rahul has to deliver big to keep Prithvi Shaw away from his spot.
