The game of cricket can be cruel sometimes especially in the World Cup. There are several players in the world who have achieved almost everything with the bat and ball but perhaps bowed out of the game or are still playing with a heavy heart.

The reason being their failure to win some of the biggest tournaments in the game. The likes of Brian Lara, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, most recently AB de Villiers and several other players could not win the World Cup despite enjoying unparalleled success as professional cricketers.

But there are several players who have won almost every big trophy that is there to be won.

So here, we take a look at five players who have won three of the biggest trophies in the game at the moment – the ODI World Cup, World T20 and Indian Premiere League (IPL).

5. Gautam Gambhir:

The man who played an integral role in India’s triumph in World T20 2007 and World Cup 2011. He was the top-scorer in the final of both the tournaments.

The southpaw played a crucial knock of 75 runs against arch-rivals Pakistan in the World T20 final in 2007. Four years later, he scored a stunning 97 against Sri Lanka in the 2011 World Cup grand finale.

In the same year, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought him and he went on to justify the decision very next year by leading the team to its first IPL title.

Well, it was also Gambhir’s first title. He repeated the feat again in 2014 and became one of the players to win the IPL twice along with ODI and T20I World Cups respectively.

4.  Yusuf Pathan:

An elder of the Pathan brothers, Yusuf made his T20I on the grandest of the stages. He played his first T20I as well as the international game in the final of World T20 in 2007 when Indian team was up against Pakistan.

He showed sparks of his hard-hitting abilities but could not play a big knock. In the following year, he enhanced his reputation, playing a vital role in Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) stunning maiden IPL title.

Moreover, three years later, he was a part of the team that won the ODI World Cup. The hard-hitting batsman then went on to win two more IPL titles with the Knight Riders.

3. Harbhajan Singh:

Not very long ago, the off-spinner led India’s spin attack in all the formats and did his job with utmost aplomb. First India to take a hat-trick in Tests, Harbhajan was dropped from the side after India’s first-round exit in the 2007 World Cup.

However, he made a strong comeback and played a crucial role in India’s World T20 win during the very same year.

In 2011, he once again proved his worth, helping India win the ODI World Cup. And as far as his IPL record is concerned, it is safe to say that there are very players who have enjoyed as much success as the veteran.

While there are several players who are yet to win even a single IPL trophy, he has won four with the latest coming this year for Chennai Super Kings.

2. Yuvraj Singh:

No player had made a bigger impression than Yuvraj Singh in the 2007 World T20 and the 2011 ODI World Cup. His six sixes off Stuart Broad in the World T20 is still fresh in every cricket fan’s mind. His 30-ball 70-run knock against Australia in the semifinal had helped India set up a date with Pakistan in the final and the rest is history.

Four years later, he played even a bigger role. He starred with both bat and ball, winning the Man of the Tournament – to help India win the World Cup after 28-long years.

What is even more remarkable that he did it while suffering from a tumour between his lungs which was later diagnosed as cancer. And although, he never managed to weave his magic in the IPL, he laid his hand on the trophy in 2016 while playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

When it comes to winning trophies, there are very few cricketers who enjoy a better record than Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The only captain to have won all the ICC tournaments (T20I World Cup, ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy) till date, Dhoni led India to glory in the inaugural World T20 in 2007.

He then went on to lead India to World Cup glory in 2011 and also won the Champions Trophy in the year 2013. In IPL, he has led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to three titles with the last one coming this year.
