Harbhajan Singh Names MS Dhoni As Captain Of his Dream XI

Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh has picked MS Dhoni as the captain of his “Dream World XI”. Harbhajan, who recently played under Dhoni’s captaincy in the Indian Premier League, lavished praise on Dhoni’s leadership skills. Dhoni is the most decorated skipper in the history of Indian cricket. He led India for nearly a decade before stepping down at the start of 2017.

Under Dhoni’s captaincy, India reached unprecedented heights. He the nation to the 2007 World T20 and 2011 World Cup titles. Under him, India also rose to the pinnacle of Test rankings for the first time.  Dhoni is still the only captain in the world to have won all the ICC tournaments – World T20, World Cup and the Champions Trophy. The veteran batsman is currently gearing up to help India win the World Cup for the third time. India will open their campaign on Wednesday against South Africa.

“No doubt, my captain is MS Dhoni. After Sourav Ganguly, if the world has seen a better captain, it has to be MS Dhoni. Even in the present scenario, there is not a smarter captain than him. I have played with him at Chennai Super Kings for the last two years,” Harbhajan Singh told India Today.

“There is no one in world cricket right now who can match MS Dhoni when it comes to game awareness. People say a captain has to be 2 steps ahead of his opposition. MS Dhoni is 10 steps ahead,” he added.

Harbhajan has observed Dhoni’s captaincy from close quarters in the last two Indian Premier League. Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings to the title last year and final this year where they lost to Mumbai Indians. Even after giving up captaincy of the national team, Dhoni is an integral part of the leadership group in the team. He will be an important figure for India in the World Cup.
