New Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Snehasish Ganguly has extended a peace offering to former Bengal cricketer sportzwiki.com/wiki/wriddhiman-saha and called him the pride of Bengal. Saha, who started his domestic career with Bengal, left the state for Tripura in a controversial fashion.

Earlier this year, Wriddhiman Saha was told by the BCCI that he was no longer in plans for the Indian Test team and as a result, he pulled out of the Ranji Trophy and informed the Bengal cricket Association of him not interested in playing the Ranji Trophy knockouts in June.

Soon after the Bengal squad for the Ranji knockouts was released by the CAB, Saha had a long conversation with Dalmiya and indicated that he may no longer play for Bengal. He was upset with comments by a senior CAB official, who had raised questions over Saha’s commitment after he decided to skip the group stage of the Ranji Trophy due to personal reasons.

“Wriddhi is Bengal’s pride. From Bengal, only Sourav (113) and Pankaj Roy (43) have played more Test matches than him. He has given a lot to Bengal and he still has plenty more to give. We still share a very cordial relationship with Wriddhi and we do believe he will come back to play for Bengal again. Personally, I would be glad if he comes back,” Snehasish Ganguly was quoted by PTI.

“At present, it won’t be right to disturb him since he’s busy with the season. But once the season gets over, I will try and talk with him. The door for him will always be open and we’ll be more than happy to welcome him back,” Snehasish added.

Wriddhiman Saha made his India Test debut as a batter in 2010 against South Africa and went on to play 40 Tests, scoring 1353 runs at an average of 29.41 and hitting 3 centuries and 6 fifties. His highest score was 117. He took 92 catches and made 12 stumpings behind the stumps and was considered to be the best wicketkeeper in the country.

He also played 9 ODIs, scoring 41 runs. In 122 FC matches, Saha made 6423 runs with 13 centuries and the best score of 203* at an average of 41.98.
