ICC ODI Rankings: Rohit Sharma Achieves Career Best Rankings, Virat Still on Top

Indian opening batsman, Rohit Sharma has achieved his career-best rankings and moved up to number five spot in the latest ICC ODI rankings, after India won the five-match series against Australia 4-1.

India defeated Australia by seven wickets in Nagpur and with that victory, the Men in Blue are now the number one team in One day format.

The 30-year old scored a magnificent hundred in Nagpur and gave India an easy win in the final ODI chasing a target of 243. Rohit was the top run scorer in the series with 296 runs under his belt.

Indian captain Virat Kohli is still the number one ODI batsman, while Australian opener David Warner has closed the gap between him and Kohli.

Apart from Rohit and Virat, Ajinkya Rahane and Kedar Jadhav too climbed up the ladder. Rahane moved up from 28th to 24th spot, whereas Kedar jumped eight places to register his career best ranking of 34.

Axar Patel who took three wickets in the final ODI, was greeted with a three-spot jump, as he climbed up to the seventh position in bowling rankings. Australia pace-bowler Josh Hazlewood who missed the recently concluded India series due to injury is replaced by South Africa’s Imran Tahir, as the number one bowler in the one-day format.

India’s spinning duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have also gained heavily after a decent outing with the ball, as Kuldeep is now at 80th place, while Chahal made a giant leap of 24 places and moved himself to 75th position.

Coming back from injury, Aaron Finch showed his class and was in the top three highest run-getter of the series, his brilliance with the bat gave him a huge jump of nine places, as he is now placed at 17th place in the rankings, while the difference between Warner and Kohli is now only 12 points.
