Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant starred as Delhi Capitals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by two wickets at Visakhapatnam in the Eliminator. Now, Delhi will face Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 2 to set up a final date with Mumbai Indians.

Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to post 162 runs after significant contributions from Martin Guptill, Manish Pandey, and Kane Williamson. However, they failed to up the ante as the Delhi bowlers kept things tight before Vijay Shankar little cameo of 25 from 11 balls helped them cross the 150-run mark. Keemo Paul chipped in with three wickets to contain the Hyderabad batters.

Meanwhile, the game shifted from one end to other during Delhi Capitals’ chase. But two scintillating knocks from Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant helped them close in on the target before Keemo Paul struck a boundary in the penultimate ball of the match to seal the tie. Shaw scored a half-century before Rishabh Pant’s 21-ball 49 guided Delhi almost to the winning runs.

Following, Rishabh Pant’s cameo, Prithvi Shaw rated him as the best finisher among the young generation of cricketers. Shaw said that Pant has contributed whenever Delhi needed him to deliver. However, the young wicket-keeper batsman will curse himself for not finishing the game. Keemo Paul struck a boundary to end the proceedings.

“In these T20 games, there’s a lot of pressure. I was praying that we win. Pant did a brilliant job. I have said that he is the best finisher among the young players. He always opens up the game for us. He has been doing very well. Unfortunately, he could not finish it for us, but Keemo did well in the end,” Shaw said at the post-match press conference.

Prithvi Shaw played a good knock to give Delhi Capitals the required impetus in the powerplay overs. His 56 off 38 balls on a sluggish wicket helped Delhi set the tone for the run chase. He dedicated his knock to the whole who backed him when he was striving for consistency. In conclusion, Shaw said that Chennai game will be a massive match and they will focus on what they have done so far in the tournament.
